FHBA Weekend Preview: 16 – 17 September 2017

In today’s edition of FHBA Weekend Preview we take a look at the fast moving Spring property market; the increase in first home buyer activity; reveal our latest hotspot in focus with first home buyers; review the top first home buyer stories this week; preview this weekends auction activity and explore our five favourite ‘new’ properties for first home buyers this weekend.

As we have been covering in FHBA News recently, the Spring property market has started pretty strong, with auction and opening home activity up. First home buyer activity has also been rising as FHBA co-founder Taj Singh spoke with Domain about earlier this week (see Taj’s interview here).

As we saw in this week’s FHBA Market Update, property prices are also continuing to rise in almost all capital city markets.

This weekend the strength of the Spring property market is expected to continue with Australia’s largest housing research provider CoreLogic Australia noting an increase in the number of auctions scheduled (up both on last weekend and the same weekend this time last year), while also noting that most markets have an increase of 5% – 20% in overall listings.

This is good news for first home buyers. In recent times we have seen a low quantity of housing on the market and this tends to put upward pressure on property prices. More listings means more choices and who doesn’t want that?

First home buyer activity may be increasing, but, with all this activity going on, don’t feel panicked (because that could lead to you rushing and making unnecessary mistakes). Stay patient and get professional help to guide you through the puzzle.

Feeling overwhelmed? Not sure what to do next? A great place to start is our 3 point strategy outlined in last week’s FHBA Weekend Preview – you can catch up on that here.

Out and about this weekend? Here are the auctions scheduled for this weekend around the country:

Adelaide 94
Brisbane 126
Canberra 58
Melbourne 1,137
Perth 29
Sydney 826

Good luck to all first home buyers in action this weekend!

New hotspot in focus: Logan (Queensland)

Every fortnight we take a closer look at an area in Australia that is popular with first home buyers. Introducing our new hotspot in focus, Logan in Queensland:

  • Logan is located in the southeast corner of Queensland, approximately halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast
  • The population of Logan is rising fast due to the location, the local lifestyle and the average cost of housing in the area
  • Australia’s third largest city (Brisbane), Ipswich and the sunny Gold Coast are all within 60 mins driving distance giving you plenty of choices for employment locations and weekend drives
  • Shops, hospitals, schools and plenty of transport options also add to the appeal of Logan
  • The climate isn’t too shabby either….learn more about Logan including house prices

Ahh – now this is what Australian living is all about

House hunt with confidence

Planning on going house hunting soon but don’t know whether a bank will lend you enough funds to buy your first home yet?

You should get a no obligation home loan pre-approval! A loan pre-approval provides you written guidance of how much a particular bank is willing to lend to you. A loan pre-approval comes with no obligations to proceed, leaving you in control and importantly, attending open homes knowing what your borrowing capacity and budget is.

To organise a no cost loan pre-approval speak with an FHBA Broker from FHBA Mortgages today
