Housing affordability is an issue – but there are more than 1,500 Aussies buying their first home every week

FHBA Weekend Preview: 20 – 21 May 2017

Ok ok – after a week of hilarious jokes around ‘smashed avocado and coffee’ on the back of our-of-touch property millionaire Tim Gurner’s comment’s on 60 minutes last Sunday evening it is time to get serious again – it is a busy weekend of open homes and auctions scheduled.

Maybe this stat will get you focused on your dream again. Did you know that in 2016 90,000 Australians purchased their very first home? That’s around 1,730 a week! Could there be 1,730 successful first home buyers this weekend? We certainly hope so!

According to CoreLogic there are more than 2,600 auctions scheduled around the nation this weekend, which is up on both on last weekend’s auction numbers and last year’s auction numbers for the same weekend. The other thing to note is the CoreLogic Daily Home Value Index is currently tracking a slow down in property price growth in our two most expensive capital cities Melbourne and Sydney.

Today we reveal our new look FHBA Weekend Preview. Find it useful? Sign up to our FHBA VIP Club for free today so you can start receiving the FHBA Weekend Preview to your inbox every Friday before the weekend frenzy begins!

You should get a no obligation home loan pre-approval! A loan pre-approval provides you written guidance of how much a particular bank is willing to lend to you. A loan pre-approval comes with no obligations to proceed, leaving you in control and importantly, attending open homes knowing what your borrowing capacity and budget is.
