Mickleham is a rapidly growing suburb located about 29 kilometres north of Melbourne’s Central Business District, within the City of Hume in Victoria. With a postcode of 3064 and covering roughly 54.7 square kilometres, the suburb has experienced remarkable population growth in recent years, rising from just over 3,000 residents in 2016 to more than 17,000 by 2021. Mickleham is characterised by its young population, with a median age of around 29 to 30 years, and is home to many families, particularly couples with children, living in modern detached houses. The area remains largely low-density, with most properties being freestanding homes and very few high-rise developments.

The suburb offers a blend of rural charm and urban convenience, featuring a mix of zoning areas such as Green Wedge, Urban Growth, and Rural Living zones. The median house price sits around $680,000, with rental properties averaging about $550 per week and yielding around 4.1%. Many residents are homeowners with mortgages, and the suburb’s diverse and multicultural community sees nearly half of its population born overseas. Household incomes tend to be slightly above the Victorian average, reflecting the suburb’s appeal to working families.

Mickleham continues to develop its infrastructure and amenities, with several schools catering to its growing population, including Hume Anglican Grammar School, which offers education from Prep to Year 12. New estates such as Botanical Estate feature emerging retail and lifestyle hubs, while green spaces and parks are scattered throughout the suburb, offering recreational options and a peaceful environment. Although public transport options are still expanding, Mickleham benefits from excellent road connections, including proximity to the Hume Freeway, making commuting to Melbourne straightforward.

As one of the fastest-growing suburbs in Victoria, Mickleham is seeing consistent demand from homebuyers and investors alike. While property prices have shown moderate growth recently, the combination of strong population expansion, ongoing infrastructure development, and good rental yields contributes to the area’s long-term investment potential. Mickleham represents a modern, family-friendly community with plenty of room for future growth and development.
