Beveridge, a historic town now evolving into a bustling suburb roughly 37 km north of Melbourne’s CBD, straddles the City of Whittlesea and the Shire of Mitchell. It recorded a population of 4,642 in the 2021 census, reflecting strong growth driven by extensive land developments like Mandalay, Ooranya, Lyra, and the latest Beveridge Central precinct 

The suburb’s heritage shines through landmarks such as the Hunters’ Tryst Inn (1845), which doubles as a pub, general store, and post office, and Mount Fraser—both tied to local history and early European exploration . Beveridge is especially known as the birthplace of the bushranger Ned Kelly; his childhood cottage and the old bluestone school/church have both earned heritage recognition.

Amenities are expanding to keep pace with growth. The Greater Beveridge Community Centre offers library and civic services, while local recreation includes the Mandalay Golf Course, tennis courts, and parklands at the Recreation Reserve. Retail conveniences currently revolve around the historic inn, with full supermarket and specialty-store access available in nearby Wallan, Merrifield Business Park, Craigieburn, and Donnybrook.

Educationally, Beveridge Primary School caters to local children (Prep–6), and families typically look to nearby schools such as Wallan Secondary College or Hume Anglican Grammar for higher grades. More primary and childcare options are in the pipeline across new estates.

Transport links remain a challenge. The suburb is bisected by the Hume Freeway and the Northern Highway, offering decent car access. However, public transport is minimal: a single bus route (511) connects to Donnybrook station, while the local railway station closed in 1990, and proposed new stations (Beveridge, Cloverton, Lockerbie) remain unfunded. How much is it?

Eligible FHBA first home buyer clients will be entitled to a 50% cash rebate on the total referral fees paid to FHBA (FHBA Pty Limited) from the new home provider you proceed with (should FHBA have a referral agreement with the provider)

The FHBA 50 Rebate will typically range from $2,500 to $12,000 depending on factors such as the property type, property location and property builder.

The rebate will be paid after the full referral fees are received by FHBA from the new homes provider first

Eligible Properties

To be eligible, the property must be from an FHBA new homes provider partner or approved by FHBA first

Example

A first home buyer couple meet an FHBA Coach and tell the Coach about their desired property. After working out their budget, the Coach show’s them a range of properties from FHBA’s New Homes partners. The QLD couple are interested in a house & land package through an FHBA partnered builder. The builder completes the sale with the client including some custom inclusions. The builder pay’s FHBA an agreed referral fee of $15,000.” “The couple will be entitled to the following government grant and incentives:
