Drouin, located about 90 kilometres southeast of Melbourne in Victoria’s West Gippsland region, is a charming and fast-growing town known for its scenic surroundings, strong community feel, and increasing popularity among families and commuters. Set amid rolling green hills and farmland, Drouin offers a relaxed country lifestyle while still providing convenient access to Melbourne via road and rail. Its blend of rural character and modern development has made it a desirable destination for those seeking more space and affordability outside the city.

Local amenities in Drouin are well developed and continue to expand alongside the town’s growth. The area features parks, playgrounds, walking trails, and sporting facilities, including the Drouin Recreation Reserve. Community spaces such as the Drouin Civic Park, library, and local arts venues host events, markets, and activities that contribute to a strong sense of community. Medical centres, gyms, and everyday services are also readily available.

Shopping in Drouin is convenient, with a central retail strip along Princes Way offering supermarkets, cafés, bakeries, and specialty shops. The Drouin Plaza and other local shopping centres provide essential retail and services, while larger shopping options can be found in nearby Warragul, just a short drive away, offering expanded retail, dining, and entertainment choices.

Education is a key strength of Drouin, making it attractive for families. The town has several schools including Drouin Primary School, Drouin Secondary College, and St Ita’s Catholic Primary School. There are also childcare centres and early learning facilities available locally, with additional schooling options in neighbouring Warragul.

Transportation in Drouin is a major advantage for commuters. Drouin Railway Station is on the Gippsland line, providing regular V/Line services to Melbourne’s CBD and other regional centres. The town is also well connected by road via the Princes Freeway (M1), making travel to Melbourne, the Latrobe Valley, and surrounding areas straightforward.

Overall, Drouin offers a peaceful, family-friendly lifestyle with a strong sense of community, growing infrastructure, and excellent connectivity. Its balance of rural charm and modern convenience makes it an increasingly popular choice for those looking to enjoy regional living within commuting distance of Melbourne.
