30 Laidley Street House and Land

Overview
Helidon is a rural town and locality situated in the Lockyer Valley Region of Queensland, Australia, approximately 18 kilometers east of Toowoomba and about 95 kilometers west of Brisbane. As of the 2021 census, Helidon had a population of 1,130 residents.
The town is renowned for its high-quality sandstone, known as “freestone,” which has been extensively used in many of Queensland’s significant buildings, including Brisbane City Hall, the Brisbane Treasury Building, and structures at the University of Queensland. This sandstone is also sought after internationally, particularly in China.
Historically, Helidon was known for its natural mineral springs. The Helidon Spa Water Company, now known as Kirks, bottled this mineral water for over 50 years, and it was even served to Queen Elizabeth II during her 1954 visit to Queensland. While the springs have since been capped and the spa facilities no longer exist, the legacy of Helidon’s mineral water remains a notable part of its history.
In terms of local amenities, Helidon offers basic services, with more extensive facilities available in nearby Toowoomba. The town’s proximity to the Warrego Highway provides residents with convenient access to both Toowoomba and Brisbane. Public transportation options are limited, so residents often rely on private vehicles for commuting.
Educational facilities within Helidon are limited; however, schools in neighboring towns cater to the educational needs of residents. The surrounding Lockyer Valley offers various recreational activities, including exploring national parks and enjoying the scenic countryside.
Overall, Helidon is a town that combines a rich historical heritage with the tranquility of rural living, all while being within reach of urban amenities in Toowoomba and Brisbane.
