Algester is a southern suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, located about 18 to 20 kilometres southwest of the Brisbane CBD. It falls under the City of Brisbane local government area, with the postcode 4115, and covers an area of approximately 3.6 square kilometres. Originally part of Acacia Ridge, Algester was officially named in 1972, with its name derived from a local road that was itself a misspelling of “Alcester,” a town in England. Before development began in the mid-1970s, the area was largely bushland and part of the Brisbane Agricultural Reserve. Early housing estates in Algester featured spacious lots and solid brick homes, reflecting the classic suburban style of that period.

Although Algester does not have its own train station, it is well-served by bus routes connecting residents to the CBD and nearby suburbs. Major roads and motorways, such as the Logan Motorway, provide easy access for commuters. The suburb also offers convenient access to shopping and dining in neighbouring areas like Sunnybank Hills and Calamvale. Algester has several local amenities, including Algester State School and St Stephen’s Catholic Primary School, while secondary students often attend schools in surrounding suburbs. The area is also rich in green space, with about 10 parks covering roughly 7.6% of the suburb’s area, providing residents with playgrounds and recreational areas.

How much is it?

Eligible FHBA first home buyer clients will be entitled to a 50% cash rebate on the total referral fees paid to FHBA (FHBA Pty Limited) from the new home provider you proceed with (should FHBA have a referral agreement with the provider)

The FHBA 50 Rebate will typically range from $2,500 to $12,000 depending on factors such as the property type, property location and property builder.

The rebate will be paid after the full referral fees are received by FHBA from the new homes provider first

Eligible Properties

To be eligible, the property must be from an FHBA new homes provider partner or approved by FHBA first

Example

A first home buyer couple meet an FHBA Coach and tell the Coach about their desired property. After working out their budget, the Coach show’s them a range of properties from FHBA’s New Homes partners. The QLD couple are interested in a house & land package through an FHBA partnered builder. The builder completes the sale with the client including some custom inclusions. The builder pay’s FHBA an agreed referral fee of $15,000.” “The couple will be entitled to the following government grant and incentives:
